1.What’s our style at Robert Yu Photography?
Our photographers capture the moments as the wedding happens. Our style is creative, romantic and photojournalistic. As storytellers, we put your feeling and emotions first. We like to use soft natural lighting as much as we can to make sure the photos look true to reality and we will use flash light and other external lighting systems to properly light up people and background when natural lighting is not adequate. Candid shots are our favorite but we will give some directions to the couples or group of people by using effective lighting and poses during portrait sessions. Our professional portrait photos look artistic and editorial. So, our style is balanced combination of documentary storytelling and artistic photography.
2.How do we select our photographers and videographers?
A good eye, creativity and passion for weddings are musts!!! We have a team of six talented photographers and videographers who have been on our team for more than five years. All of our photographers and videographers work with top-of-the-line professional cameras, lens and lighting systems. Our photographers and videographers are trained with college or university course to develop their skills. The main photographers and videographers have 5-10 years of experience or over 200 weddings of coverage. We curated our talents’ artwork in the portfolio and we work as a team on the weddings.
3.How far in advance do you need to book?
This will depend on the popularity of the wedding date. Our photographers and videographers are booked on popular dates (long weekends and Saturdays in spring, summer and fall) 10-18 months in advance. After your venue is set, we suggest you book your photographers and videographers as soon as possible.
4.Do you need a second shooter?
If you wedding is longer than 6 hours or you invite more than 120 guests, we highly recommend a second shooter. Second photographer or videographer covers guests, venues, details and fast-moving moments on the day when first shooter is mainly focusing on the couples and wedding party. At the ceremony, a second camera can make sure the unique photo/video opportunities be documented with two angles, such as first look, ring exchanges, first kiss and etc. At the cocktail hour after ceremony before the reception, our second shooter will cover the guests enjoy their cocktail and decoration of the venue when the first shooter is taking the couple for romantic portrait session at a nearby location. If your budget allows, hire a second shooter at least for ceremony and first part of the reception.
